In 2006, Mr. ZHANG Yi attended the Annual Conference of Bilderberg Group. The Bilderberg Group was founded in 1954 by the father of Queen Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgard of the Netherlands in the eponymous hotel. Since then, the Group will hold the conference of four days in different countries in May or June per year. The Group is the most mysterious exclusive gathering for the top elites in the world.

In April, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi paid a visit to the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and met with Mr. Frank Hartmann, Head of East Asia Division and his colleagues, Mr. Jonatan Weinberg, Mr. HannsgeorgBeine. Both parties have exchanged their views on the topics in which they were interested.

In April, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi paid a visit to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany and met with Ms.GerlindHeckmann, Head of Division and her colleague, Ms. Claudia Koppel. Both parties have exchanged their views on the topics in which they were interested.

In April, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi visited Berlin Office of BMW Foundation and met with Mr. Michael Schaefer, Chairman of BMW Foundation and the former German Ambassador to China. Both parties have carried out the in-depth discussion as for the tangible cooperation.

In May, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi headed the Delegation to visit the Headquarters of EU Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) in Alicante, Spain and met with Mr. Luis Berenguer, Head of Communication Service and Spokesman, Mr. Javier Moreno, Head of International Cooperation Service, Ms. Jacqueline Winkelmolen, Team Leader of International Cooperation Service and Ms. Carolina Pitarch, Project Manager of International Cooperation Service. Both parties held the meeting on the issue of jointly promoting the work of intellectual property protection as for the trademark and designs registry between Europe and China.

In May, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi paid a visit to Mr. Martin Thuemmel, Director of Political Department of German Embassy in Beijing. Both parties have exchanged their views on the topics in which they were interested.

In June, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi met with the head of the concerned division and his colleague at the office building of European External Action Service (EEAS) in the Headquarters region of EU, Brussels. Mr. ZHANG Yi informed his counterpart of the recent work and the future plan. Both parties exchanged their views on the topics in which they were interested.

In July, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi headed the Delegation to attend the Symposium on “One Belt, One Road”Initiative at Peking University. The Symposium was held by the Institute of Ocean Research of Peking University. The attendees were experts and scholars from different fields including Peking University, Development Research Center of the State Council, State Information Center of China, the Information Center of State Oceanic Administration of China, China Construction International Co., Ltd and Yue Rong Asset Management Company. The attendees had exchanged their views on the new research methodology for “One Belt, One Road” Initiative and the future cooperation mechanism between Chinese and European academic institutions.

In September, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi headed the working team in the capacity of co-organizer of 2015 Songshan Forum. Mr. ZHANG Yi and the Italian Delegation carried out the in-depth discussion with the attendees from all circles on the hot topics, the 45th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relation between China and Italy, the 40th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relation between China and EU, “One Belt, One Road” Initiative. At the Forum, the mission, function and task of ECMDC had been systematically expounded, which had attracted the wide attention of the attendees and the press.

In October, 2015, at the invitation of Mr. Mario Occhiuto, President of Cosenza Province, Mayor of Cosenza City and President of Commission of Structural Cohesion and South Developmentof National Association of Italian Municipalities, Mr. ZHANG Yi attended the annual conference of National Association of Italian Municipalities and delivered the keynote speech. He expounded the mission, function and task of ECMDC to Italian mayors who attended the meeting. Italian mayors vied with each other in airing their willingness of becoming the important partners to ECMDC and making the contribution to the friendship between Europeans and Chinese through the platform of ECMDC.

In November, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi was invited to attend the 1st Berlin Global Forum, which was held by BMW Foundation. He expounded “One Belt, One Road”Initiative of the Chinese government to European friends and pointed out, following the macro policy of the Chinese government, European and Chinese NGOs could bring their advantages to the full play with a view to substantiating “One Belt, One Road” Initiative through the concrete projects of cultural exchange and economic cooperation. Mr. ZHANG Yi’s speech had received the unanimous applause from the attendees.

In December, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi was invited to presided over the full session of “New Phase of Sino-European Relation” of Sanya Forum. Mr. ZHANG Yi and the distinguished guests, Mr. Michael CLAUSS, German Ambassador to China, Mr. Maurice GOURDAULT-MONTAGNE, French Ambassador to China, Mr. Miroslaw GAJEWSKI, Polish Ambassador to China, Mr. WU Jianming, Member of the Foreign Policy Advisory Group of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the former Chinese Ambassador to France, Ms. ZHOU Hong, Academic Member of China Academy of Social Sciences, Deputy Chair of Division of International Studies, Chair of Chinese Association for European Studies, and Mr. Sameh EL-SHAHAT, President and Co-Founder of China-i Ltd. jointly discussed Sino-European relation at the new normal stage.
