The Function

The function of ECMDC is to promote the economic cooperation, cultural exchange and sci-tech innovation between EU Headquarters, EU Member States and the Chinese government at different levels;

to assist the major functional departments of EU Headquarters in the work of communicating with their counterparts of the Chinese government in an efficient way;

to provide the related services for the economic, cultural and sci-tech cooperation between EU Member States and the related authorities in China;

to support EU Member States in their publicity work in China;

to introduce the high-quality educational resources, cultural creation industry, the state-of-the-art scientific and industrial technologies of Europe into China and actively assist the related European institutionsin their entry into China;

to provide the consulting services for European enterprises to enter the Chinese market;

to cooperate with the Chinese governments at local levels to publicize their regions in Europe;

to assist Chinese enterprises in the work of going global and entering European market and provide the professional consulation and support in the fields of European laws, policies and business information;

to jointly implement the work of EU China Partnership on Urbanization, “One Belt, One Road” Initiative, the national policies with the related Chinese authorities;

to jointly execute the related projects of EU China 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation with the related Chinese authorities

Henceforth,

ECMDC will be dedicated to the work of communicating the advanced experiences of municipal governance between European andChinese cities. ECMDC will formulate the down-to-earth road map to serve municipalmanagement level through the seminars, field investigations and innovative cooperation in line with the actual situations ofEuropean and Chinese cities;

ECMDC will seek the optimum combination between economic development and social welfare with the effort of realizing the sustainable development of regions or municipalities as the objective. ECMDC aims to provide the new perspective for the municipal governance through the effort of sharing advanced experiences. ECMDC will fully rely on the advanced experiencesthat have been accumulated in Europe in the field of eco-friendly environment management, the preservation of cultural relics and ruins, long-distance education, the vocational skills training, medical and healthcare industry and turn all these experiences into concrete cooperation projects through which the municipal governance service of Chinese cities will be improved. EuropeanandChinese people will benefit from thesepositive outcomes;

ECMDC will explore the new method of interdisciplinary innovation cooperation. On the basis of fully understanding actual situations and demands of member cities, ECMDC will form the trans-border cooperation platform between circles of politics, academia, culture, sciences and technologies with the purpose of liberating the dynamic power of enterprises within municipalities. ECMDC will embark on the journey of regional development through the achievements of enterprises;

ECMDC will be actively engaged in the work of publicizing its voice and promulgate the future achievements in due forms. ECMDC will present the examples and models for the municipal governance in the world and gradually build up its power of influence;

ECMDC will choose the 21^stcentury smart city construction as the starting point and set up the platform for the sharing of experiences, the dissemination of information and the cooperation of projects as for the global challenges in the field of urban planning, cultural build-up, art design, sci-tech innovation, smart manufacturing, urban and innovative agricultural technologies;

ECMDC will cherish the people-to-people communication and try to fulfill the objective of sharing the experiences, information, achievements and implementing the joint cooperation between European and Chinese design talents. ECMDC will improve the understanding of the counterpart’s culture between Europeanand Chinese people through two-way tourist exchange.
