Mr. ZHANG Yi Meets with Officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Italy

At 2:45 pm of April 16th, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi and his companions went to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Italy and met with Mr. Giuseppe Cacopardi, General Director of Department of European and International Policies and Rural Development, Mme Alessandra Pesce, Special Secretary of Vice Minister of Sen. Andrea Olivero. Both parties carried out the negotiation over the issue of agricultural cooperation between China and Italy.

Mr. ZHANG Yi introduced the related technical cooperation that met with the current demands of agricultural sector in China and consulted with two Italian officials on advices concerning the potential cooperation with Italian authoritarian institutions in the field of food security. He pointed out that Italy was always the powerful country in the field of agricultural production and was taking the lead in the multiple aspects of agricultural technology in the world. He remarked, UN Food and Agricultural Organization and European Food Security Authority were located in Italy, which indicated the unique advantages of Italy in the related international cooperation. The Commission expected to carry out the related cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Mr. Giuseppe Cacopardi expressed his welcome to the Commission’s visiting and was willing to assist the Commission in the work of promoting and sharing the advanced experiences of Italy in the field of agriculture and forestry in China. He said, since the agricultural production was closely linked with the food security, the Ministry was consistently promoting the most advanced information management technology of agricultural produces in the world, with which all the related information from the plantation of agricultural produces to the final consumption would be recorded and tracked in order to ensure the security of food at the very beginning. The Italian government would like to see that other countries would adopt this technology and jointly cope with the issue of food security.
Mme Alessandra Pesce provided the further information of Italian advantages in the field of agriculture and expressed her interest in the work of improving the standard of food security in China. She pointed out that food security was the comprehensive issue, which was concerned with the mutual cooperation between agricultural and health sectors. She was glad to know that the Chinese government encouraged foreign companies and institutions to participate in the work of establishing the industrial standard and she was quite looking forward to seeing Italian enterprises and institutions to participate in this work in an effective way.
Mr. ZHANG Yi specified that, the Commission has established the good partnership with the Chinese government at different levels and has been strategic partner to many Chinese cities. Many Chinese cities were quite willing to establish the relationship with European countries in the work of introducing the agricultural technology and exhibiting the agricultural produces. The Commission intended to negotiate with the cities of China over the issue of setting up the experimental base of agricultural cooperation between Italy and China. The purpose was to introduce the advanced agricultural technologies and ideas of Italy into China in a systematic way in the hope of improving the local agricultural production and turning the base to be the comprehensive one with the integration of the platform of technical transferring and agricultural tourism on the reliance of Italian advantages in cultural tourism. Mr. Giuseppe Cacopardi and Mme Alessandra Pesce expressed their intense interest in this proposal and were quite willing to cooperate with the Commission to realize this idea into the down-to-earth project. Mr. ZHANG Yi said, the related negotiation with Chinese cities would be conducted once the Delegation returned back to China.
