On May 23^rd, 2015, at the invitation of the Commission, Mr. CAO Guoliang, the Standing Committee Member of CPC of Jiashan County and Deputy County Magistrate headed the Delegation to visit the Commission. Both parties held the meeting on the issue of carrying out the cooperation and formulating the executive plan.

Bilateral Meeting

    Mr. ZHANG Yi expressed his welcome to Mr. CAO Guoliang and his companions and introduced the current work and the mission of the Commission. Since its entry into China, the Commission has been serving as the platform for the economic cooperation and cultural exchange between China and Europe and has established the good working relationship with many cities and regions of China. He remarked, the Commission expected to work with Jiashan County and made its contribution to the local economic development.

Mr. CAO extended his gratitude to the warm reception from Mr. ZHANG Yi and made the detailed introduction to the regional advantages and industrial structure of Jiashan County. Jiashan is at the juncture of three regions, namely, Shanghai City, Zhejiang Province and Jiangsu Province with just one hour’s driving distance from Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou etc. the important cities of the Yangtze River Delta. While being a county with convenient communication with the outside, Jiashan is also the famous region with rivers and lakes. Xitang, the world-renowned ancient town is in Jiashan. Meanwhile, Jiashan is also one of the Top 100 Counties with Comprehensive Strengths of China and the only “County-Level Pilot Zone of Scientific Development” authorized by the State in China. The present development of Jiashan is with the incomparable advantages at the opportune moment. Mr. CAO indicated that the purpose of this visiting was to introduce the high-quality projects of Europe into Jiashan and boost the local economy.

Mr. ZHANG presented the European projects handled by the Commission and the working method to the Delegation. Mr. ZHANG and Mr. CAO jointly formulated the executive plan for the cooperation. Both parties reached the consensus that the future development of Jiashan should be conducted from two aspects, viz. the ecological construction and the high-end service construction with a view to turning the beautiful landscape of Jiashan into the basis of the powerful economy and realizing the sustainable scientific development. Jiashan aimed to become the pioneer as the county-level scientific development in China. Therefore, the Government of Jiashan County would actively work with the Commission to apply for the National Wetland Park, which would lay the solid foundation for the economic development and the work of attracting the external investment with this ecological name card. Jiashan expected to introduce the high-quality European projects into the county and gradually develop the high-end service industry in order to occupy the commanding height of the related industries. Jiashan would absorb the European projects and enable them to become the boosting power for the local economic development. In line with the accumulated experiences in this field, Jiashan expected to provide the concrete case studies for the construction of the Belt and Road as references.

Both parties have discussed the issue of carrying out the cooperation in the fields of the youth football training, industrial design and the vocational training as well. While seeking to realize the high-speed development of local economy, Jiashan would absorb the high-quality educational resources of Europe to the maximum degree and turn out numerous talents, which would lay the foundation for the further development of Jiashan. On the basis of the friendly negotiation, both parties have decided to establish the strategic partnership.
