On July 27, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi headed the delegation to attend the Symposium on the Belt and Road at Peking University. The Symposium was held by the Institute of Ocean Research (IOR), Peking University. The attendants were experts and scholars from different fields including Peking University, the Commission, Development Research Center of the State Council, State Information Center of China, the Information Center of State Oceanic Administration of China, China Construction International Co., Ltd and Yue Rong Asset ManagementCompany, they had exchanged their views on the new research methodology for the Belt and Road and the future cooperation mechanism between Peking University and European academic institutions.

Mr. CHEN Xueyi, Secretary General of IOR presided over the Symposium. At the invitation, Mr. ZHANG Yi delivered the speech, in which he introduced the mission and current works of the Commission and formulated his opinions concerning the cooperation and road map between the Commission and IOR. Afterwards, Mr. CHEN introduced the Research Center of the Belt and Road and its innovated interdisciplinary research across multiple fields.

WANG Jimin, Professor of Peking University made a systematic presentation on the academic achievement that he and his team had made over one year and explicated the related issues. The present experts and scholars respectively approached the scientific evaluation on the new methodology adopted by Professor WANG from their own professional fields and aired their own opinions in order to further enrich and perfect this new methodology. Amid the heated discussion, the research team and the attendants inspired each other and the ideal expectation had been achieved.

The attendants also exchanged their own views on the further extension of the utility coverage of this new methodology and the interdisciplinary oceanic research within the new context. The Commission and IOR had determined the road map for the joint effort of setting up the future cooperation mechanism between Peking University and European academic institutions.
