Mr. ZHANG Yi Presides over the Session of Sanya Forum

From December 12th to 13th, 2015, Mr. ZHANG Yi attended Sanya Forum at the invitation of the Organizer and presided over the full session of “New Phase of Sino-European Relation” of December 13th. Mr. ZHANG Yi and the distinguished guests, Mr. Michael CLAUSS, German Ambassador to China, Mr. Maurice GOURDAULT-MONTAGNE, French Ambassador to China, Mr. Miroslaw GAJEWSKI, Polish Ambassador to China, Mr. WU Jianming, Member of the Foreign Policy Advisory Group of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the former Chinese Ambassador to France, Ms. ZHOU Hong, Academic Member of China Academy of Social Sciences, Deputy Chair of Division of International Studies, Chair of Chinese Association for European Studies, and Mr. Sameh EL-SHAHAT, President and Co-Founder of China-i Ltd. jointly discussed Sino-European relation at the new normal stage.

Sanya Forum is organized by China Association for Friendship and undertaken by Caijing Journal. Sanya Forum is the high-level forum in the famous tropical tourist city of China. There are more than one thousand celebrities from the circles of politics, business and academia home and abroad who attend this forum. The theme of this annual forum is “New Economy, New Momentum” with the coverage of topics concerning economy, relations between China and foreign countries and Chinese overseas investment with a view to holding the in-depth discussion on the cooperation and development between China and all the other countries in the world at the new normal stage.


On December 13th, Mr. ZHANG Yi presided over the session of “New Phase of Sino-European Relation” and conferred with the distinguished guests who delivered the speeches over the opportunities and challenges with which Sino-European relation was confronted. In his opening speech, Mr. ZHANG Yi pointed out that as the European non-profit organization devoted to the efforts of promoting cultural exchange, economic cooperation and scientific, technological innovation between China and EU Member States, the Commission had accumulated the store of successful cases; henceforththe Commission earnestly realized that Chinese and European enterprises, organizations could find the convergence of mutual interests in order to set up the long-term and efficient cooperation. Mr. ZHANG Yi put forward the idea of “Unity through Cooperation” with the purpose of fostering the friendship through the mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthening the solidarity in order to elevate Sino-European relation to a new high.


Mr. ZHANG Yi and the guests carried out the analyses and discussions as for the different aspects of Sino-European relation. The atmosphere was lively and heated. The insightful words of the guests had won the prolonged applauses from the audiences. The session was a huge success.


During the preparatory process for the session, Mr. ZHANG Yi and Mr. Michael CLAUSS, Mr. Maurice GOURDAULT-MONTAGNE, Mr. Miroslaw GAJEWSKI exchanged the views as for the topics in which the concerned parties were interested. Mr. ZHANG Yi carried out the discussion with Mr. Michael CLAUSS on the issue of Sino-German scientific and technological innovation, especially in the field of technological cooperation. Mr. ZHANG Yi introduced the preparatory work of the Commission for the sci-tech innovation platform. Mr. Michael CLAUSS remarked, the German government and German enterprises were willing to make their own contribution to the improvement of Chinese welfare and expected to jointly promote the related work.


Mr. ZHANG Yi exchanged the views with Mr. Maurice GOURDAULT-MONTAGNE as for the cooperation concerning “One Belt One Road” between China and France. Mr. ZHANG Yi expounded the work undertaken by the Commission since the official promulgation of “One Belt One Road” by the Chinese government. He said, China and France were the countries with the great culture and the cultural exchange between the west and the east tended to be the forerunner of economic cooperation. Henceforth, the Commission would strengthen the friendship between Frenchmen and Chinese through the tangible cultural exchange projects. Mr. Maurice GOURDAULT-MONTAGNE indicted his willingness of witnessing that more and more Chinese friends would understand French culture and people and the Commission could play an important role in this field.


Mr. ZHANG Yi conferred with Mr. Miroslaw GAJEWSKI as for the issue of Sino-Polish economic cooperation. Mr. ZHANG Yi remarked, Poland was at the heart of Europe and would surely play an important role in the “One Belt One Road” construction. The Commission stood ready to make the full use of the close cooperation between itself and Chinese regional governments and enterprises in order to provide the new channel for Sino-Polish economic cooperation. Mr. Miroslaw GAJEWSKI expressed his thanks to these words and was willing to carry out the further discussion with Mr. ZHANG Yi as for this issue in Beijing.


In the meanwhile, Mr. ZHANG Yi and Mr. Sameh EL-SHAHAT had reached the consensus of cooperation. Both parties would jointly hold the academic symposium and high-end training concerning the related legal preparation and risk management for Chinese enterprises that tended to enter the market of Europe. It would be the supportive program for Chinese enterprises that participated in “One Belt One Road” construction.


During his stay in Sanya, Mr. ZHANG Yi reunited with old friends again and met new friends, all of these served to have a better employment of the related works betweenthe Commission and EU Member States.
