The Official Establishment of EU-China Winter Sports Alliance

At 3 pm of January 21st, 2016, Mr. ZHANG Yi witnessed the official establishment of EU-China Winter Sports Alliance at Royal Opera House of Stockholm, Capital of Sweden along with 50 attendees from sports industry (including event organizers and service providers), investment and media. All the attendees were actively engaged in the discussion of efficiently exploiting the commercial cooperation opportunities between Nordic countries and China as for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
EU-China Winter Sports Alliance is the innovative platform whose mission is to facilitate the winter sports event exchange and the related industrial cooperation between EU Member States and China. The Alliance has chosen the tangible projects of sports event cooperation, sports service, brand cooperation as the entry points and will introduce European advanced methodology and high-quality resources into China in order to improve the organizing and service-providing capability of ice and snow sports of China. The Alliance aims to further promote ice and snow sports across China and support Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. At the preparatory stage, the Alliance has received the full support from sports professionals of EU Member States and China. The road map of the Alliance is clearly stated as follows: to center around the ice and snow sports event organizing and service providing, to elongate the related industrial chain and to construct the ecological circle that integrates sports event, cultural exchange and sci-tech innovation into one entity. Mr. ZHANG Yi is one of the Founders of EU-China Winter Sports Alliance and is the Chairman of the Alliance as well.
The moderator presided over the meeting. She firstly presented the background and process of establishing the Alliance. The Alliance has Europe-China Culture and Economy Commission, Nordic Vikings China Team, GoodPro Company of Sweden, Tutwo (Xiamen) Outdoor Wares Ltd of China as Founding Members; Taishan Sports Industry Group of China, Djurgårdens IF Hockey of Sweden, Ericsson as Honorary Members; HuginBiz, ISPO and Nordic Sustainable Development Association as Advisory Team. At the preparatory stage, many companies with the great significance in the related fields are in the process of applying for the important membership of the Alliance. In tune with the gradual development of the related cooperation, the Alliance will surely become the important platform that supports Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics day by day. Sino-European cooperation as for the ice and snow sports is in due time along with the abundant commercial opportunities.
Mr. ZHANG Yi further expounded the significance of setting up the Alliance. He pointed out thatthe Commission was actively engaged in the work of facilitating the cultural exchange and economic cooperation between EU Member States and China; in the meanwhile, it sought to explore the new avenue of development and construct the exchange platform between European and Chinese cities with a view to furthering China-Europe Urbanization Partnership. Since ice and snow sports were quite popular in Nordic countries and Beijing would hold Winter Olympics in 2022, the Commission would like to use the ice and snow sports cooperation as the channel and introduce the high-quality resources of culture, education, sciences and technologies of Nordic countries into China in order to substantiate the Sino-European municipal development cooperation through new methods. The attendees gave a thunderous applause for the speech of Mr. ZHANG Yi.

Taishan Sports Industry Group, the leader of sports industry of China availed itself of this chance to present its development history to the colleagues of Nordic countries and indicate its willingness of seeking the win-win cooperation. Mr. BIAN Qingfeng, Vice President of Taishan Group and Mr. SHI Hengqun, Assistant to Chairman of Taishan Group had delivered the detailed speeches respectively on the advantages of production, R & D, distribution channels that Taishan Group possessed. As the sports facilities provider of many international important sports events, Taishan has attained the quality standard of “Zero Error, Zero Complaint, Zero Accident” and stands ready to bring the same quality and standards into Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics along with Nordic partners.
Mr. Per Eric Holmström, Founder of Nordic Vikings China Team introduced the development of Bandy in China and the related commercial opportunities. As the important country of ice and snow sports, Sweden has the rich experiences of training, sports events organizing and service providing. Against the background that Beijing would hold Winter Olympics, the training plan of six years that started from the present would surely lay the foundation for the success in 2022. Nordic Vikings China Team would like to promote the related cooperation through the platform of the Alliance. According to the related introduction, Reebok CCM, Sandvik also extended assistance to the formation of China National Bandy Team in 2015. China National Female Hockey Team will carry out the training cooperation with Djurgårdens IF Hockey in 2016.
At the stage of Announcement of Important Events, Mr. ZHANG Yi witnessed the donation of 120000 euros from Tutwo (Xiamen)
Outdoor Wares Ltd to the Alliance with the purpose of funding China National Hockey and Bandy Team. In the meanwhile, Mr. SHI Hengqun represented Taishan Group to announce the important cooperation plan with the Alliance.
Dr. HU Zhenming, Assistant to Executive Chairman of the Commission represented the Executive Team of the Alliance in China to announce, on February 21st, the Alliance would hold the ceremony of entry into China at the National Stadium (the Bird’s Nest). Chief officials of Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, General Administration of Sports of China, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture would attend the ceremony. Chinese companies in the sports industry would attend the event as well, which would signify the first step of Sino-European ice and snow sports cooperation.

Mr. Mikael Sundtrom, Head of Networked Event of Ericsson introduced the new service of his company for ice and snow sports in details, which would seamlessly combine the sports events with the new experiences of the audiences through the internet technology with a view to constructing the new interactive model. He remarked, Ericsson would make the full use of its advantages of information management and rich experiences of ice and snow sports of Sweden. With the ideal integration of two advantages, Ericsson would provide the powerful support and service to Beijing Winter Olympics. In the meanwhile, this technology could be applied to various fields as well.

CEOs of Seger Company, Bliz Company, Rehband Company and Craft Company came to present the products of their companies and the tangible cooperation projects with Chinese partners. These important companies would like to seek the best cooperation road map through the platform of the Alliance and provide services to Beijing Winter Olympics.
The Alliance also invited the heads of Winter Sports Research Center of Sweden University to attend the meeting. The Center is also Royal Olympics Test Center of Sweden, which takes the lead in the world. The heads of the Center also expected to carry out the cooperation with Chinese companies in the sports industry, sports event organizers and service providers through the Alliance with the purpose of jointly opening the new field of cooperation.
All the attendees offered their best suggestions as for the issue of promoting Sino-European ice and snow cooperation in an efficient way and discussing its best road map. Amid the thunderous applauses, the meeting came to the end.
At the following cocktail party, Mr. ZHANG Yi fully exchanged the views with heads of Swedish sports industry funds and top-notch brands in the world as for the issue of cooperation. The concerned parties had reached the consensus of cooperation.
