On March 23^rd, 2016, Executive Chairman ZHANG Yi was invited to head the Delegation to visit Venice Port Authority (VPA) and met with Mr. Paolo Costa, President of VPA, Mr. Nicola Torricella, Director of the Technical Division of VPA, Mr. Sandro Bisello, Technical Director of VPA, Mr. Roberto Perocchio, Managing Director of Venezia Terminal Passeggeri S.p.A. (VTP) and Mr. EdoardoRovere, Sales Manager of VTP. Both parties had reached the cooperation consensus as for the construction of smart port.

Mr. Paolo Costa was very happy to meet Mr. ZHANG Yi again and extended his warm welcome to new Chinese friends. Mr. ZHANG Yi also expressed his thanks. He said, since the visiting of VPA in April, 2015, the Commission was actively engaged in the work of inviting Chinese enterprises to participate in the construction of Venice Port. The Delegation of INESA came to VPA in the hope of seeking the cooperation.

Mr. YU Jiangang, Vice President of INESA said, owing to the arrangement of Mr. ZHANG Yi, the Delegation of INESA had a chance to visit VPA and carry out the discussion of the cooperation concerning the future smart port construction. INESA was quite willing to exhibit its own advanced technology at Venice Port and construct a showcase project.

The technicians of VPA and INESA had exchanged their views on the plan of smart port construction. The concerned parties had reached the consensus as for the cooperation. Mr. Paolo Costa remarked, it was an opportune time for the Delegation of INESA to visit Venice Port and both parties could enter into the state of carrying out the tangible projects. The construction of the showcase project in Venice would create the opportunity for European port authorities to know the technology of INESA. Mr. YU Jiangang said, INESA would explore the best cooperation model in accordance with the actual situation of VPA and strive to turn the showcase project to be the exemplary project of the Belt and Road construction. Mr. ZHANG Yi extended his congratulations on the concerned parties. He said, Venice played the important role in the Belt and Road policy of China. The cooperation between VPA and INESA would surely become the successful case as for those Chinese enterprises that went abroad and were devoted to the Belt and Road construction. Afterwards, the concerned parties had formulated the road map of cooperation and set up the timeframe for the next work.

After the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. ZHANG Yi and his companions had the field investigation of Venice Port in the accompaniment of Mr. Roberto Perocchio, Managing Director of VTP.
