On May 12^th, 2016, Chairman ZHANG Yi was invited to head the delegation to visit Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) and had the field investigation of its sci-tech innovation work. Afterwards, Mr. ZHANG Yi held the in-depth discussionconcerning the multiple issues with Ms. JI Jing, Vice Chairman of Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee (SIPAC) and reached the consensus with the coverage of the sci-tech innovation cooperation between China and Europe, industrial upgrading of SIP enterprises and sci-tech financial cooperation.

SIP is a new city to the east of Suzhou with a jurisdiction of 288 square kilometers. As the flagship cooperation project between Chinese and Singapore governments, SIP is also the experimental plot of the reform and open-up in China and the demonstration zone of the international cooperation. From 1992 to 2016, SIP has gone through the process from the conception of the original idea to the preparatory work, till the full-scale development. SIP grows from strength to strength and has become the most successful high-tech industrial park in China with the unique showcase features. In 2015, GDP of SIP has reached 207 billion RMB. The goal of SIP is to become an internationally-recognized, modern and IT supported hi-tech park with global competitiveness and to become an innovative, ecological and happy city.

With the companionship of Mr. CAO Dawei, Chief of International Cooperation Division of SIPAC Science & Technology Development Bureau, Mr. ZHANG Yi and other delegates visited DusuLake Science & Education Innovation Zone, China-Singapore (Suzhou) Innovation Center and SIP Planning Museum. The delegation had a full knowledge of the achievements SIP has made in the field of sci-tech innovation and SIP’s vision as well.

At the ensuing meeting, Ms. JI Jing firstly extended her welcome to the delegation headed by Mr. ZHANG Yi. She expected to carry out the close partnership with the Commission in order to strengthen the international sci-tech innovation cooperation. Mr. ZHANG Yi expressed his tanks to SIPAC’s considerate arrangement as for this visiting. He said,technologypioneeredin the evolution of the times; henceforth, the Commission was actively engaged in the work of furthering the integration between the advanced European technologies and Chinese market. The Commission was willing to fully mobilize European resources to make its own contribution to the sci-tech innovation of SIP. Ms. JI Jing expressed her gratitude to these words and expected to carry out the down-to-earth cooperation with the Commission. Mr. ZHANG Yi and his companions also discussed with SIPAC on the issue: how to mobilize the resources from different fields and optimize the portfolio of capital in order to provide the services for the enterprises of SIP and other regions in the field of technique acquisition, overseas acquisition and emerging. Both parties had reached the consensus as for the cooperation and formulated the related timetable.
