From May 19^th to 22^nd, 2016, Chairman ZHANG Yi was invited to attend the 5^th World Young Leaders Forum of BMW Foundation, which was held in Munich, Germany. Mr. ZHANG Yi gave the keynote speech at the special session and had a hearty talk concerning the cooperation opportunities and the action plan of “One Belt, One Road” along with the global leaders from different circles.

World Young Leaders Forum is one of the serial activities organized by BMW Foundation with the guiding topic “Responsible Leadership”. Young leaders from different circles of commerce, politics, NGO, culture and media with the coverage of more than 50 countries and regions come to attend the Forum with the purpose of the promoting the international cooperation and social innovation in the world. The Forum has been successfully held in Hawaii, Bombay, Buenos Aires and Beijing. The most of the attendees are leaders and decision-makers of different circles.

At the Forum, Mr. ZHANG Yi had fully exchanged the views with Mr. Michael Schaefer, Chairman of BMW Foundation as for the effort of strengthening the partnership. Both parties had reached the consensus that, ECMDC and BMW Foundation would make the joint effort of building the cooperation platform and formulating the action plan for the innovative partnership between Sino-European sci-tech and financial elites.

Mr. ZHANG Yi also explicated in details the project of EU-China Sci-Tech Financial Center (the Center) to the leaders and decision-makers from different circles who attended the Forum. All the concerned parties believed that it would be a very promising project if European and Chinese partners could carry out the close cooperation around two themes, science and technology, finance. They vied with each other in airing their keen interests in the development of the Center in Shanghai and Suzhou, China. They would keep close eyes on the experimental bases and stand ready to participate in the project in line with the actual needs of the Center through the effort of bringing the high-end European political, commercial, financial and sci-tech resources into the Center.

At the session with the special topic of “One Belt, One Road”, Mr. ZHANG Yi gave the keynote speech. He expounded the successful cases ECMDC had made to the audiences. As the European NGO, ECMDC had been devoted to the work of strengthening Sino-European cooperation of different aspects for years. He said, while many countries attached the importance to the various opportunities created by the economic development of China, it would be of vital importance for European friends to understand the actual demands of China and pinpoint the suitable Chinese partners. ECMDC would be willing to become the bridge and link for Sino-European cooperation of different fields. ECMDC would be ready to provide the two-way service and actualize the possibilities as for the synergy of Chinese “One Belt, One Road” and the development of European countries. The audiences gave warm applauses to Mr. ZHANG Yi’s words. Afterwards, the audiences posed the questions in which they were interested to Mr. ZHANG Yi and there was a lively interaction.

The 5^th World Young Leaders Forum of 4 days successfully came to the end amid the blessings of the attendees. ECMDC is determined to quicken the construction of Shanghai, Suzhou bases of EU-China Sci-Tech Financial Center and will present an excellent example of Sino-European Cooperation to the attendees, the leaders and decision-makers from different circles of the world, which will surely strengthen the confidence of European friends to actively participate in the construction of “One Belt, One Road” of China.
