ECMDC Delegation Visits Leipzig

On June 23rd, 2016, Dr. Walter HU, Deputy Secretary General visited Leipzig, Germany with the companionship of Mr. Henrich Guntermann, CEO of European Consortium of Technology Transfer (ECTT). Dr. HU met with Ms. Brigitte Bruck, Head of Division of Economic Development Office of Leipzig and both parties carried out the in-depth discussion as for the partnership between Chinese cities and Leipzig.

Ms. Brigitte Bruck firstly expressed her welcome to ECMDC Delegation. She introduced the history of Leipzig and the current opportunities of development. Dr. HU extended his gratitude to the warm reception from Ms. Brigitte Bruck and then introduced the mission and positioning of ECMDC. As the European NGO, ECMDC was devoted to the cause of promoting the cooperation between Chinese and European cities in various aspects. ECMDC aimed to select the down-to-earth cooperation projects around cultural exchange, economic cooperation and sci-tech innovation in order to enhance the mutual trust, which was just the purpose of visiting Leipzig. Mr. Henrich Guntermann briefed his visiting in Shanghai and Suzhou several weeks ago and the progress of the cooperation between ECTT and ECMDC. He said, ECTT and ECMDC were jointly exploring the brand-new cooperation model. ECMDC would fully mobilize its social resources in China and submitted the actual demands of Chinese clients to ECTT, then ECTT would choose the best suppliers in Europe. On the basis of the perfect docking of European technology and Chinese market, ECTT and ECMDC would jointly mobilize social funding and use the financial leverage to accelerate the implementation of the projects. By virtue of this model, ECTT and ECMDC had a very successful case within a very short time.
Ms. Brigitte Bruck extended her congratulations to the joint efforts of ECTT and ECMDC and indicated her appreciation for this highly efficient cooperation model. She believed, since there was such a difference between European and Chinese cultures, the good intention of cooperation sometimes could not be actualized through concrete actions. Because of this fact, the role ECMDC had played was of vital importance. Dr. HU said, the guiding working principle of ECMDC were down-to-earth spirit and high efficiency. Owing to the recommendation of Mr. Guntermann, ECMDC Delegation came to discuss the road map of cooperation between Leipzig and her Chinese counterparts in accordance with the actual needs of Leipzig and her competiveness. Ms. Bruck then introduced Leipzig’s competency in various fields including bio-medicine, automobile manufacturing, logistics, culture and arts. She said, she and her colleagues of Leipzig City would actively support the work of ECMDC and expect to rely on the platform of ECMDC in order to enhance the friendship between Germans and Chinese through concrete cooperation. Dr. HU said, since Leipzig, the famous historic city possessed so many remarkable advantages, the cooperation between Leipzig and China was very promising. Afterwards, he introduced the potential cooperation projects that could be carried out in Leipzig and those potential partners.
At the short meeting, Dr. HU and Ms. Bruck had a definitely clear view as for the road map of cooperation. Both parties indicated their willingness of keeping the steady flow of information and carrying out the multiple cooperation projects between Leipzig and China in a highly efficient way.
