ECMDC-ESMT Executive Education Program

On June 23rd, 2016, EU-China Municipal Development Commission (ECMDC) and European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) jointly held ECMDC-ESMT Executive Education Program in Berlin, Germany. 32 Chinese entrepreneurs attended the special training and field investigation of one and a half days in order to experience the charms of Germany and learn from the development model of German SMEs, especially those entitled as the Hidden Champions.
In 2002, 25 global companies and institutions including BMW, Bosch, Deutsch Bank, Siemens jointly founded European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) with the original idea of providing the education and training with the top quality to their senior managers in Germany. Over 14 years, ESMT has made huge strides and now it can provide executive program and diploma program including MBA, Masters and PhDs. In 2015, ESMT was ranked as the 16th at the Financial Times European Business School Rankings and the top in Germany. “ECMDC-ESMT Executive Program: Understanding Germany” is developed by ECMDC in collaboration with the professors and experts from acatech and ESMT. It is the comprehensive training that integrates the knowledge learning, the field investigation and interaction into one entity around three topics, namely, “Learning from Strategies of German Hidden Champions”, “Learning from Germany: Factors that Unleash the Innovation Potential” and “Industry 4.0: Building the Factory of the Future”.
Ms. OUYANG Xiaoming, Ex-Secretary General of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and the current Executive Vice-President of Dacheng Enterprise Institute headed 32 excellent Chinese entrepreneurs to attend the Program.
Dr. Walter HU, Deputy Secretary General firstly represented ECMDC to welcome Chinese entrepreneurs to Berlin and attend the Program. He remarked, ESMT was the business school founded by many world-class companies, which defined its unique DNA. The positioning of ESMT was to integrate the corporate management and the technical R & D in an efficient way in the new economic situation. Henceforth, to those Chinese entrepreneurs whose businesses were at the stage of growth, the special program of ESMT would surely inspire them as for the future development of their companies.
Dr. Jens Weinmann, Program Director of ESMT represented ESMT to deliver the welcome speech to Chinese entrepreneurs. He said, ESMT valued ECMDC-ESMT Executive Program and organized the excellent professors and experts to give the lectures around the actual needs of Chinese enterprises and hot topics in addition to those selected field investigation. He hoped that Chinese entrepreneurs reap the greatest harvest within one and a half days.
Dr. Johannes Habel is delivering his lecture
Dr. Johannes Habel began the Program with his lecture “Learning from Strategies of German Hidden Champions”. Dr. Habel, who has provided the professional consulting services to many multinational companies expounded the successful road of those German Hidden Champions to Chinese entrepreneurs in a simple way, and presented the successful cases that might enlighten the audiences. At Q & A session, Chinese entrepreneurs vied with each other in raising questions and carried out the discussion with Dr. Habel on the concrete questions. The atmosphere was very lively.
Professor Jorg Rocholl is delivering his speech
Professor Jorg Rocholl, President of ESMT managed to find time to be at the class and delivered his welcome speech to Chinese entrepreneurs. He said, ESMT had established partnerships with several Chinese business schools and provided the training programs of many sorts. This Program was jointly developed along with ECMDC, the European NGO in accordance with the actual needs, which was more focused on hot topics. He expected the Program to be continued and recognized by Chinese entrepreneurs.
When the training program of the first day came to end, Chinese entrepreneurs visited German Tech Entrepreneurship Center and HHPBerlin Company, the Hidden Champion.
At the training of the second day, Dr. Jens Weinmann introduced the development of German enterprises and their characteristics with the lecture “Learning from Germany: Factors that Unleash the Innovation Potentials”. The unique history of Germany defined the unique German corporate culture and DNA. Dr. Oliver Pfirrmann, the former Head of Unit Technologies of acatech (German National Academy of Science and Engineering) gave the special lecture of “Industry 4.0: Building the Factory of the Future” and professionally explicated the origin of the concept Industry 4.0 and its contents. Two lectures set Chinese entrepreneurs thinking and the inspired Chinese carried out the good interaction with the experts.
ESMT issued the Certificate to Chinese entrepreneurs at the conclusion of the Program.

On June 22nd, Dr. Walter HU paid a visit to Mr. Christopher Burger, Senior Associate Dean of Executive Education of ESMT and Mr. Jens Weinmann. Both parties had carried out the in-depth discussion as for the future partnership. Dr. HU introduced the progress of EU-China Sci-Tech Financial Center and indicated his expectations as for the full cooperation with ESMT in the field of education, training and academic forums. Mr. Christopher Burger said, ESMT was quite willing to have more chances of serving Chinese enterprises by virtue of the platform of ECMDC.

Dr. HU also exchanged his views concerning the multiple cooperation programs with Professor Jorg Rocholl, President of ESMT. Dr. HU said, ECMDC valued the cooperation with ESMT and had formulated the detailed cooperation plan with a view to developing the partnership in various aspects. Professor Jorg Rocholl extended his gratitude to it and fully expected to rely on the unique channel of ECMDC in order to provide the high-quality intellectual support to Chinese enterprises and make its own contribution to the friendship between Germany and China.
