Mr. Wolfgang Freese extended his welcome to the visiting of ECMDC Delegation and introduced the basic information of Saxony Economic Development Corporation. The Corporation belonged to the State of Saxony with the mission of opening the cooperation channels for the enterprises of Saxony to be engaged in the overseas cooperation, and providing professional assistances to those foreign enterprises that settled down in Saxony. He further introduced five major industries of Saxony, namely, ICT, automobile manufacturing, mechanic automation, life science and green technology. While Saxony boasted of the famous global companies such as Porsche, BMW, it also possessed a cluster of excellent SMEs, which had formed an ideal industrial chain and ecological circle.
Dr. HU extended his gratitude to the considerate arrangement of Mr. Henrich Guntermann. He said, when he stayed in Leipzig, he had already felt the liveliness of Saxony and experienced its charms; what he had seen and heard on the journey from Leipzig to Dresden had greatly reinforced his confidence of establishing the partnership between ECMDC and Saxony in the future. Mr. Guntermann then briefed his visiting in Shanghai and Suzhou several weeks ago to Mr. Freese. He said, with the deeper and deeper understanding of Europe, more and more Chinese enterprises were willing to invest in Germany and develop the high-quality commodities for Chinese and global market by virtue of the powerful R & D competency of Germany in order to realize win-win. Mr. Freese was very delighted to know that EU-China Sci-Tech Financial Center of ECMDC had been widely recognized by Chinese partners and had made the actual progress. He expected the Corporation could present the competitive industries of Saxony to Chinese partners through the platform of EU-China Sci-Tech Financial Center. It would be an ideal model that the win-win economic cooperation would be centered on sci-tech innovation, while the financial leverage would maximize the interests of the concerned parties. This model should surely boost the economy of the concerned Chinese and German regions. He said, the Corporation would spare no efforts to providing the assistance to the future EU-China Sci-Tech Financial Center in Saxony.
Dr. HU expressed his thanks to Mr. Freese for his recognition of ECMDC’s current work. He said, numerous cases proved that the cooperation should be guided by the principle, “step by step”. Therefore, the future cooperation between ECMDC and Saxony would begin with the projects that both parties had full confidence in actualizing in the real sense. It would enhance the confidence of both parties and pave the road for the further cooperation. The cooperation between both parties could be simultaneously carried out in three aspects, people-to-people communication, specific project implementation and the coordinated sci-tech innovation with the short-term, middle-term and long-term objectives in accordance with the nature of the projects. Mr. Freese acknowledged the detailed proposal for the cooperation of ECMDC and indicated his willingness of carrying out the further discussion as for those specific details.
After the meeting, ECMDC Delegation visited Saxony Technical Center with the guidance of Mr. Hans-Jurgen Gross. Saxony Technical Center is the complex that integrates R & D and corporate incubation into one entity and is the representative of various sci-tech incubation platforms. In this Center, there are successful start-up companies and the global companies such as Samsung. Dr. HU came to know that another striking feature of this Center was the close partnership with Dresden University of Technology, one of the most prestigious technical universities in Germany, whose R & D incubator was located in the Center as well. Dr. HU detailed the introduction of ECMDC’s partner, Suzhou Industrial Park to Mr. Gross. He said, Chinese partners would love to cooperate with famous European technical universities. Chinese attached the importance to the education and the combination between talent training and sci-tech incubation would ensure the sustainable development of the Center as well. Mr. Gross said, he would brief the related information to Dresden University of Technology and other universities of Saxony. He would be quite willing to jointly explore the innovative model along with ECMDC as for the docking of high-quality resources of Saxony higher institutions and Chinese partners.
