Chairman ZHANG Yi Engaged as the Advisor

On September 25th, 2016, Chairman ZHANG Yi was invited to attend 2016 Hong Kong, Macau and Overseas Chinese Fraternity Forum, which was held by Beijing Chaoyang District Returned Overseas Chinese Federation. Mr. ZHANG Yi was engaged as the Advisor to the Seventh Session of the Committee of Beijing Chaoyang District Returned Overseas Chinese Federation.

 

 

Chaoyang District lies in the east of Beijing City with the territory area of 470.8 square kilometers and the permanent household residents of 3.84 million. Chaoyang District is the major region for the foreign affairs activities in Beijing, even in China. There are 160 foreign embassies in Chaoyang District, while UN organizations, international organizations are located here as well. 90% of foreign news agencies, 60% of foreign enterprises or their subsidiaries branches are gathered here. In 2015, GDP of Chaoyang District attained 464.02 billion RMB, which topped the list of GDP ranking among 18 districts of the whole Beijing City.

 

Beijing Chaoyang District Returned Overseas Chinese Federation invited experts, scholars, returned overseas Chinese leaders, returned Chinese entrepreneurs, Hong Kong and Macau entrepreneurs from 14 countries and regions at home and abroad to attend 2016 Hong Kong, Macau and Overseas Chinese Fraternity Forum. The attendees offered their valuable advices and suggestions as for the social and economic development of Chaoyang District and the whole Beijing City. Mr. MA Jian, Vice President of Beijing Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, Mr. HE Ming, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Chaoyang District Commission and other senior officials of Chaoyang District are present at the Forum. Ms. ZENG Xu, President of Beijing Chaoyang District Returned Overseas Chinese Federation chaired the Forum.

 

At the Forum, Mr. ZHANG Yi introduced the current work of ECMDC in the sectors of finance, high-tech industries, cultural creation and modern service industry, which were just the future directions of economic development of Chaoyang District. He remarked, as the European NGO, ECMDC was committed to the down-to-earth cooperation in the fields of cultural exchange, economic cooperation and sci-tech innovation between China and EU Member States. ECMDC had selected a series of European high-quality projects, which would be introduced into Chaoyang District in order to boost the regional development of Chaoyang.

 

 

Mr. MA Jian and Mr. HE Ming expressed in succession their gratitude to the efforts ECMDC had made as for the development of Chaoyang District. They were eagerly looking forward to the synergy between ECMDC and the concerned parties of Chaoyang District in executing these projects as soon as possible. They also indicated that Beijing Returned Overseas Chinese Federation and Chaoyang District Government would provide the full support to the forthcoming cooperation.

 

Mr. ZHANG Yi reciprocated the support from Mr. MA Jian and Mr. HE Ming with heartfelt thanks. He also briefed his recent meeting with Ms. Viviane Reding, the former Vice President of European Commission to the attendees of the Forum. Ms. Viviane Reding gave the highly positive evaluation of G20 Hangzhou Summit which was concluded days ago. She said, the top management level of EU was actively engaged in the negotiation concerning EU-China free trade zone and the tentative agreement of the package deal concerning service trade. Leaders of EU consistently believed that trading should never be the Zero-Sum Game, and the shared interests between EU and China were far above the contradictions and conflicts. Ms. Viviane Reding had the faith in ECMDC that served as the facilitator to promote the partnership between EU Member States and China, and expected ECMDC to make greater contribution. Mr. ZHANG Yi indicated that EU Headquarters attached great importance to the partnership between EU and China; the good will of achieving the mutual benefits and win-win must be actualized through the down-to-earth cooperation projects in order to realize the goal of enhancing the welfare of European and Chinese people. ECMDC would do its utmost to boost the economic development of Chaoyang District in line with the actual demands of four major industries during the process of development.

 

Mr. ZHANG Yi’s speech had been fully recognized by the attendees. They vied with each other in airing their opinions as for how to make the full use of human resources of overseas Chinese and the related advantages to serve the economic development of Chaoyang District. Amid the heated discussion, they had reached the consensus in various aspects.

 

 

At the conclusion of the Forum, Mr. ZHANG Yi received the Letter of Appointment from Mr. MA Jian and was engaged as the Advisor to the Seventh Session of the Committee of Beijing Chaoyang District Returned Overseas Chinese Federation.
