ECMDC Facilitates the International Cooperation between HTOU and Its European Counterpart

On November 3rd, 2016, Chairman ZHANG Yi, Mr. Alessandro Costa, Senior Advisor of ECMDC and Mr. WEI Yong, Chairman of Hainan Tropical Ocean University (HTOU) Council, Ms. WEI Jing, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office of HTOU met in Beijing, and discussed the road map for the international cooperation between HTOU and its European counterpart.

Mr. ZHANG Yi expressed his welcome to the visiting of Mr. WEI Yong and Ms. WEI Jing. He said, on October 31st, ECMDC had just signed the Strategic Partnership Agreement with HTOU. ECMDC immediately undertook to inform the European team of the progress in the first place, and initiate the related work. In the shortest time span, ECMDC had received the positive feedback. Mr. Alessandro Costa, Senior Advisor of ECMDC was the famous scholar in Europe, who was Head of Strategic Development and International Cooperation of Venice International University (VIU) as well. Mr. Costa stood ready to hold the in-depth discussion with HTOU as for the future international cooperation.

 

Mr. WEI Yong extended his gratitude to Mr. ZHANG Yi and indicated his admiration for the high efficiency of ECMDC. He made the brief introduction of HTOU to European friends. Located in the southernmost part of China, HTOU is the only state-owned comprehensive university jointly constructed by Hainan Provincial Government, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and State Oceanic Administration of P. R. China and Sanya Municipal Government. It is granted as one of the ten “Educational Aid Centers” by Ministry of Education of P. R. China, “China-ASEAN Education and Training Center” by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education of P. R. China, “Regional Research Center of Shanghai Cooperation Organization University”, and “China International Youth Center (Hainan)”. HTOU enjoys the priority to establish Postgraduate Education Institution for MTA (Master of Tourism Administration) with the approval of the State Council Academic Degree Committee in the program of “Talent Cultivation Program for National Special Needs”. It serves as a cradle of talents cultivation for south central Hainan and functions as a center for knowledge innovation, social service and cultural inheritance. Mr. WEI Yong remarked, owing to the dedicated efforts of all the faculty members and students, HTOU had developed its unique educational features gradually; with the full support from ECMDC, the capacity of international cooperation of HTOU would surely be greatly improved. He had the full confidence in the down-to-earth cooperation between HTOU and ECMDC.

 

Mr. Alessandro Costa expressed his thanks to the visiting of Mr. WEI Yong and Ms. WEI Jing. He made the detailed introduction to Venice International University and discussed the entry points for the future cooperation between VIU and HTOU. He said, Venice was an open city, which attracted numerous world-class scholars and experts to visit. This fact had made it possible that VIU could construct the international academic platform, which enabled the cooperation between HTOU and VIU to be with the unparalleled advantages. In the meanwhile, Venice was the congregation region for national maritime studies of Italy. HTOU would surely find the best partners in Venice as for the efforts of building the maritime studies and international cooperation.

 

Afterwards, Mr. ZHANG Yi, Mr. WEI Yong and Mr. Alessandro Costa held the in-depth discussion as for the series of issues concerning the cooperation between HTOU and VIU, the building of maritime studies of HTOU etc. The concerned parties also reached the consensus as for the road map and timeframe. At the end of the meeting, Mr. WEI Yong remarked, he would bring the latest news to HTOU and carried out the full evaluation along with his colleagues. He said, he would notify ECMDC of the actual demands concerning the building of the maritime studies, and the ideas of the international cooperation as soon as possible with a view to furthering the tangible cooperation between the concerned parties.
