Chairman ZHANG Yi Attends the First Session of the 13th Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC

From December 16th to 21st, 2016, the First Session of the 13th Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was successfully held in Beijing. Chairman ZHANG Yi attended the Conference as the Committee Member of the 13th Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC, and was present at the First Session of the 16th People’s Congress of Beijing Chaoyang District as well.

Chaoyang District lies in the east of Beijing City with the territory area of 470.8 square kilometers and the permanent household residents of 3.84 million. Chaoyang District is the major region for the foreign affairs activities in Beijing, even in China. There are 160 foreign embassies in Chaoyang District, while UN organizations, international organizations are located here as well. 90% of foreign news agencies, 60% of foreign enterprises or their subsidiaries branches are gathered here. In 2015, GDP of Chaoyang District attained 464.02 billion RMB, which topped the list of GDP ranking among 18 districts of the whole Beijing City. Mr. ZHANG Yi is the only Committee Member of the 13th Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC in the capacity of the representative of an international organization.
Mr. ZHANG Yi tabled two proposals concerning the sci-tech innovation and education at the Conference as the means to participate in the deliberation and administration of state affairs. He pointed out that against the background that there existed so many uncertainties under the current global circumstances, all those who were concerned with the future development of Chaoyang District felt compelled to think how to leverage the functions of the international organizations including ECMDC with a view to introducing the global high-quality resources into Chaoyang District, which would surely strengthen the municipal competitiveness and facilitate the supply side reform. ECMDC stood ready to select the best projects in line with the industrial layout and the municipal development of Chaoyang District, and make its own contribution in the related field. At the Conference, Mr. ZHANG Yi fully exchanged the views with the heads of Chaoyang District Government and social celebrities as for the synergy between ECMDC and the concerned authorities of Chaoyang District. The consensus they have arrived at had entered the action plan of ECMDC in 2017.
