Chairman ZHANG Yi Meets with Mr. ZHU Xiangyuan

On February 27th, 2017, Chairman ZHANG Yi met with Mr. ZHU Xiangyuan, Senior Advisor to ECMDC at Beijing Office. They had the discussion as for the preparatory work of UNESCO-China Sci-Tech Innovation and Education Forum, and the action plan of Sino-European STEAM education cooperation. They exchanged their views concerning the follow-up arrangement as well.
Mr. ZHANG Yi and Mr. ZHU Xiangyuan
Mr. ZHU Xiangyuan used to be the Member of the Standing Committee of the 9th and 10th National People’s Congress and Vice President of China National Democratic Construction Association. Mr. ZHU Xiangyuan is the famous scholar and writer in China and the author of Ode to the China Millennium Monument. Mr. ZHU Xiangyuan is the Honorary Chairman of China Life Sciences Society.
Mr. ZHANG Yi made the detailed introduction to the preparatory work of UNESCO-China Sci-Tech Innovation and Education Forum. The well-matched partnership between ECMDC and the Chinese Society of Education had laid the solid foundation for the Forum. In the meanwhile, Natural Sciences Sector of UNESCO was actively engaged in the preparatory work as well, and designed the agenda, recommended the internationally renowned scholars and the heads of the concerned institutions to attend the Forum in order to ensure the successful holding of the Forum.
Mr. ZHU Xiangyuan appreciated the down-to-earth and efficient working style of ECMDC. He remarked, in comparison with European and North American countries, China lagged behind in the field of scientific education. Therefore, it was meaningful to hold the international forum and take the concerted efforts among different partners in order to explore the new model for STEAM education in line with the actual situation of China. He said, he himself would actively participate in the Forum, while he would mobilize the others and institutions with the same devotion to the great cause of the sci-tech innovation and education to attend the Forum as well.
Mr. ZHANG Yi extended his gratitude to the words of Mr. ZHU Xiangyuan. He believed, with the full support from Senior Advisors to ECMDC including Mr. ZHU Xiangyuan, UNESCO-China Sci-Tech Innovation and Education Forum would surely become the important platform of sci-tech innovation and education cooperation between China, international organizations and communities.
