The Official Meeting between ECMDC and Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC

At 2:30 pm of April 11^th, 2017, Mr. CHEN Tao, Chairman of Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) headed the Delegation to visit ECMDC Beijing Office. Chairman ZHANG Yi, Secretary General Francesco Sisci, and Ms. Ingrid JIANG, Chairperson of the Board of EU-China Municipal Development Projects Management Co., Ltd received the Delegation at the office. ECMDC and CPPCC Delegation held the official meeting concerning the issue of promoting the sci-tech innovation, education and economic exchange between Chaoyang District and European cities in order to seek the new model for Sino-European creative cooperation. Mr. ZHANG Yongxin, Vice Chairman of Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC, Mr. WANG Wenyuan, Vice Chairman of Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC and Ms. WANG Yuhua, Secretary General of Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC attended the meeting as well.

Mr. ZHANG Yi extended his warm welcome to the visiting of the Delegation headed by Mr. CHEN Tao. He made the detailed presentation to the Delegation as for the current work undertaken by ECMDC to promote Sino-European cooperation on urbanization in all aspects within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. He also offered his constructive advices concerning the development of Chaoyang District in the capacity of the Committee Member of Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC. He remarked, Chaoyang District has the important role in Beijing City, and even in China. Since he is the only Committee Member as the representative of a European NGO at Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC, he cherishes this honor, and is quite willing to head ECMDC to introduce European high-quality resources into Chaoyang District in line with the actual demands. Under the leadership of Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC, ECMDC will make the joint efforts with the concerned parties to build Chaoyang District as the exemplary window of Sino-European cooperation and exchange.

Mr. CHEN Tao appreciated Mr. ZHANG Yi’s introduction and highly recognized the current work and future planning of ECMDC. He said, Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC has classified ECMDC as the key strategic partner with the purpose of making the full use of the platform function of ECMDC and its networking in Europe. Chaoyang District expects ECMDC to gather more and more European high-quality resources for Chaoyang District and Beijing City in order to boost the regional development. Since the current work undertaken by ECMDC in the aspects of sci-tech innovation, culture and economic cooperation is just what Chaoyang District is in need of, Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC will give the full support and assistance to the implementation of the projects in Chaoyang District. Mr. CHEN Tao remarked, Chaoyang District Committee will introduce the concerned sci-tech parks and enterprises to ECMDC to forge the synergy with a view to expanding the scope of Sino-European cooperation in multiple layers within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, which will become the bedrock of the future community of shared destiny with mutual benefits between Chinese and Europeans.

Mr. Francesco Sisci made the further introduction that the work of ECMDC has been recognized by the concerned parties at EU HQ and EU Member States. Many authorities of EU Member States have approached ECMDC, and entrusted ECMDC with the work of selecting the best partner in China in order to turn the goodwill of Sino-European cooperation into the sustainable projects in the fields of sci-tech innovation, cultural exchange and economic cooperation. ECMDC is willing to incubate the related projects in Chaoyang District in the first place, and then popularize them across China, which will further strengthen the position of Chaoyang District as the exemplary window of Sino-European cooperation and exchange.

Mr. ZHANG Yi tabled a proposal to Mr. CHEN Tao. He said, since all the foreign embassies (except Russian Embassy) are located in Chaoyang District, Chaoyang District lives up to the reputation of the center of international exchange and communication. Therefore, ECMDC is willing to work with Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC to explore the possibility of establishing European Diplomats Club, whose mission is to provide more channels and platforms for the cooperation between European countries and Chaoyang District. Mr. CHEN Tao seconded this proposal and remarked, Chaoyang District Committee will be actively engaged in this work, and will make the joint efforts with ECMDC to provide assistances to European diplomats to help them to know Chaoyang District, Beijing City and China. The future club will facilitate the implementation of the future cooperation projects, which will surely strengthen Sino-European friendship.

The positioning and the future work of ECMDC in Chaoyang District Committee of CPPCC have been further defined as well. Amid the friendly atmosphere, both parties concluded the official meeting.
