From May 27^th to 29^th, 2017, Chairman ZHANG Yi, Deputy Secretary General HU Zhenming were invited to attend 2017 Horasis Global Meeting, which was held in Cascais, Portugal. Mr. ZHANG Yi had the in-depth discussion with the world leaders from political, commercial and academic circles as for the global hot topics and the issues with the shared interest. In the capacity of co-chair of Horasis Global Meeting, Mr. ZHANG Yi attended the plenary meeting “World Economic Outlook”, and made the detailed introduction to the Belt and Road Forum, which was just held in China to the attendees. He expounded the entry point of Sino-European cooperation with the mutual benefits and the promising future from the perspective of the chairman of a European NGO. During the meeting, Mr. ZHANG Yi met with international political celebrities including Mr. Jose Manuel Barroso, the former President of European Commission, and explored the measure of further promoting Sino-European partnership on urbanization through the channel of non-governmental diplomacy. International political celebrities acknowledged Mr. ZHANG Yi’s proposals and indicated their willing supports.

Horasis Global Meeting is an annual grand event. 2017 Horasis Global Meeting is jointly hosted by Horasis, the Portuguese Government and Cascais Municipal Government. The Meeting is under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Portugal, Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. Mr. Manuel Caldeira Cabral, Minister of Economy, Portugal attended the Grand Opening on May 28^th, and delivered the keynote speech. Mr. Antonio Costa, Prime Minister of Portugal presided over the banquet on the night of May 28^th, and delivered the speech. On the night of May 29^th, Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of Portugal attended “Plenary: Modelling Sustainable Migration”, and delivered the keynote speech. Mr. Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation also attended Horasis Global Meeting, and delivered the keynote speech at the Grand Opening. Mr. CAI Run, Chinese Ambassador to Portugal attended the Meeting as well.

At the meeting “China and Europe: Joining Hands for Innovation” on the night of May 27^th, Mr. CAI Run, Chinese Ambassador to Portugal delivered the keynote speech. At the discussion, Mr. ZHANG Yi presented his own opinion as for the current progress of China’s technologies, and the future sci-tech innovation between China and Europe. He introduced the concrete action plans and the successful experiences ECMDC has made in the efforts of promoting Sino-European sci-tech innovation cooperation. He said, with the improvement of China’s innovation capacity, more and more Chinese enterprises attach the importance to the intellectual property protection, and are quite willing to join hands with European counterparts to make the striding progress with the open-minded attitudes. ECMDC is bringing its platform function to the full play, and facilitating Sino-European sci-tech innovation cooperation in an efficient way.

On May 29^th, Mr. ZHANG Yi participated in “Plenary: World Economic Outlook”. Mr. ZHANG Yi aired his own opinion as for the uncertainties with which the world economy is confronted. He said, the Belt and Road Forum which was just held in Beijing is a valuable reference action plan for the concerned countries to overcome the world economic dilemma. Within several decades, China has made the remarkable economic achievements through reform and opening-up. Nowadays, China is willing to share its successful experiences with the world, and integrate the economic globalization into the actual demands of the concerned countries through various down-to-earth cooperation projects. In this way, the concerned countries will jointly establish the community with shared interests, and the future community of shared destiny. Since the Belt and Road Initiative has gradually been accepted by more and more countries, all the on-the-ground cooperation projects are implemented in succession, it is believed that the whole world will acknowledge the sincerity of China’s efforts of promoting the economic globalization, and many countries will shift from the original hesitation to the active participation in the Belt and Road Initiative. Mr. ZHANG Yi’s words have been fully appreciated by the world leaders from different sectors at the Meeting.

During 2017 Horasis Global Meeting, Mr. ZHANG Yi introduced the mission and the tasks of ECMDC to Mr. CAI Run, Chinese Ambassador to Portugal. Mr. CAI Run expected ECMDC to make its own contribution to the cause of promoting Sino-Portuguese cooperation with mutual benefits, and enhancing the mutual trust and friendship between Chinese and Portuguese. Mr. ZHANG Yi and Mr. Luigi Gambardella, Founder and President of China-EU Association for Digital also reached the consensus of cooperation.

Mr. ZHANG Yi explored the future win-win cooperation along with Mr. Miguel Pinto Luz, Vice Mayor of Cascais, Portugal, Mr. Julio Andrade Ruiz, Vice Mayor of Malaga, Spain and Ms. Barbara Barrett, Chairperson of Aerospace Corporation, U.S. as well.
