On the morning of June 13^th, 2017, Chairman ZHANG Yi, Mr. Henrich Guntermann, Senior Advisor to ECMDC and CEO of European Consortium of Technology Transfer (ECTT) were invited to attend the seminar concerning Sino-European cooperation on medical and health industries. They met with Ms. CHENG Jingyue, Vice President and Secretary General of China-Europe Association for Technical and Economic Cooperation (CEATEC), Mr. ZHENG Hong, Managing Vice President of China Medical Culture Association, Mr. YANG Xiaoming, Chairman of the Board of China National Biotec Company Limited, and exchanged their views on the two-way down-to-earth cooperation with the mutual benefits in the medical and health industries between China and Europe. The concerned parties reached consensus on the basis of the in-depth discussion.

China-Europe Association for Technical and Economic Cooperation (CEATEC), the subsidiary association of the Ministry of Commerce of China, is the only non-profit organization in China that is dedicated to the promotion of trade and commercial ties between China and Europe. The mission of CEATEC is to promote mutual understanding and communication, and tap the potential for cooperation between Chinese and European companies. By assisting Chinese and European companies to explore the markets and facilitating the flow of capital, products, technology and talents, CEATEC aims to promote the interactions between companies and governments, foster closer links among Chinese and European businesses, thus contributing to the overall development of Sino-European economic and trade relations. ECMDC is the strategic partner of CEATEC.

China Medical Culture Association (CMCA) is the subsidiary association of National Health and Family Planning Commission of China, which was founded on November 18^th, 2015 by China Medical Education Center, Health Journal and People’s Medical Publishing House. The mission of CMCA is to unite personalities of various circles, who are engaged in or care for the cause of promoting medical culture. CMCA organizes various cultural activities to advocate the health concepts and publicize health knowledge. Mr. CHENG Xiaohong, the former Vice Minister of National Health and Family Planning Commission is the President of CMCA.  

At the meeting, the concerned parties held the full exchange of views, and the in-depth discussion on the issue of implementing two-way cooperation of medical and health industries between China and Europe through the concrete projects within the framework of Sino-European Belt and Road Cooperation.

Mr. ZHANG Yi made the detailed presentation concerning Sino-European medical and health cooperation undertaken by ECMDC to the attendees of the seminar. He remarked, on the basis of the market investigation, ECMDC comes to realize that there is a brilliant prospect for Sino-European cooperation on medical and health industries because of the robust demands on each side. Henceforth, ECMDC has established the close partnership with European and Israeli authoritative medical institutions and companies. ECMDC is systematically promoting the two-way cooperation between China and Europe. Europe boasts of the advanced technologies and management system, while China has the huge market. Because of the demand for cooperation on each side, Sino-European cooperation will surely be win-win.  

Mr. Henrich Guntermann introduced his field investigation in Yunnan Province to the attendees. Owing to the arrangement of ECMDC, he visited two pharmaceutical companies of Yunnan Industrial Investment Group. One is concerned with Chinese traditional plant pharmacy; the other is concerned with the vaccine production. He was greatly impressed by the charms of Chinese traditional medicine, and the capabilities of Chinese modern biologic pharmacy. He said, ECTT has deployed the activities as for Sino-European cooperation in the fields of pharmaceutical production, the exportation of Chinese traditional medicines and the disease prevention by vaccines. ECTT has reached consensus with pharmaceutical companies in the State of Saxony of Germany, and welcome Chinese companies to settle down here. ECTT will provide the service for the future Sino-European joint research and development.

Ms. CHENG Jingyue remarked, CEATEC has many member companies in medical and health industries. The close partnership between CEATEC and CMCA will further optimize the concerned resources. Since Chinese medical companies are quite interested in the European market exploitation, CEATEC is willing to work with ECMDC and ECTT to implement the related concrete projects.

Mr. ZHENG Hong and Mr. YANG Xiaoming respectively introduced their own organizations and their demands for Sino-European cooperation, which have received the positive feedback from Mr. ZHANG Yi and Mr. Henrich Guntermann. The concerned parties reached consensus as for the future cooperation.

Afterwards, Mr. ZHANG Yi introduced 2017 Horasis China Meeting, which would be held in November, 2017 in Sheffield, U.K. Mr. ZHANG Yi is the co-chair of Horasis China Meeting. He said, ECMDC is willing to work with CEATEC and CMCA to organize the special session at 2017 Horais China Meeting, which will be focused on Sino-European cooperation on medical and health industries. This proposal has been accepted by the attendees. The concerned parties would draw out the related action plan.
